The Grant Police Department consists of Chief
Roger S. Hornbuckle, Officer Thomas (Tom) Sorrell and five part-time officers. There are approximately 3,000 people in
our city limits and police jurisdiction. Our patrol division covers about twenty
square miles.

The Grant Volunteer Fire Department which consists of approximately 30 members, was recently awarded the Walter Vest Award. This award is given annually by the Alabama Forestry Commission to the most outstanding volunteer fire department in the state. Out of 997 departments in the State of Alabama, Grant Volunteer Fire Department was chosen as number one. Grant Fire Chief Robert Patterson stated, "Our department is honored to receive this award". "We are thankful for the recognition of the dedication, planning, leadership and an involved membership over the years that continues to the present". He also stated, "None of this could even be remotely possible if it were not for the firemen who serve Grant with respect, loyalty and compassion for all the people they so unselfishly protect".

Other Medical Services
Grant is fortunate to have two medical clinics, an optometrist, a dentist, a chiropractor, and a veterinary clinic. The veterinarian is the only wild animal specialists in Northeast Alabama. Other major medical centers are located a short distance from Grant in cities such as Guntersville, Scottsboro, and Huntsville. Grant also has an active EMS Team.
