Mission Statement
It shall be the mission of the Grant Police Department to provide the citizens and visitors of Grant, effective, professional and courteous police service. The department’s primary goal is keeping the public safe and crime down. This is accomplished through training, community relations, patrol, crime prevention, accountability, and enforcement while protecting the constitutional rights of all.

General Information
We have a small department that by the dedication of the officers and support of the community accomplishes big tasks.  The Department currently consist of Chief Burgess, Lieutenant Nunnelley, Patrolman Downs and two part-time officers.

There are approximately 3,000 people in our city limits and police jurisdiction. Our patrol division covers about twenty square miles.

We currently have three Fords, one Dodge Charger and one Hummer.  The vehicles are equipped with GPS tracking systems, radar, laptop computers with internet connection to the Alabama Criminal Justice Information Center (ACJIC) and Law Enforcement Tactical System (LETS), and printers. Officers carry Glock pistols (9mm, 40 cal, 45 acp), and are assigned patrol rifles and shotguns. Additionally, all officers are trained in the use of and issued Tasers (Electronic Control Devices), OC (Oleoresin Capsicum) Spray, and other less-lethal weapons.

Grant Fire Department  

The Grant Volunteer Fire Department consists of thirty members manning 3 engines, one ladder truck, and one heavy rescue truck.  The updated equipment and the hard work of our members have recently lowered the town’s ISO rating from a 7 to a 6 lowering the insurance ratings of the citizens of Grant. The Department responds to a diversified number of calls that include: medical calls, fire alarms, working both residential and commercial fires, motor vehicle collisions, road obstructions, natural disasters, and public assistance calls. The members of the Grant Volunteer Fire Department are proud to serve the Town of Grant and its citizens.

 Medical Services

Grant is fortunate to a medical clinic, a dentist, a chiropractor, and a veterinary clinic. The veterinarian is the only wild animal specialists in Northeast Alabama. Other major medical centers are located a short distance from Grant in cities such as Guntersville, Scottsboro, and Huntsville.
